On The Road Again

A Day of Adventure

Saturday was a fantastic day! I had the chance to help Cliff move his 40’ Montana 5th Wheel from storage to the beautiful Airforce Beach RV Resort. His truck was out of service, so I stepped in to lend a hand.

Stunning Views

What a beautiful view and campsite Cliff has right on the ocean! We managed to park his 5th wheel in the perfect spot. Now, he can enjoy campfires and whale watching all season long. The sound of the waves and the fresh ocean air make it an ideal getaway.

Enjoying the Outdoors

Camping is all about relaxation and enjoying nature. Cliff is set up for a peaceful experience. Whether he’s roasting marshmallows over the fire or watching whales breach in the distance, he’s in for a treat.

The Importance of Careful Transport

Transporting RVs and trailers requires a lot of care. It's essential to ensure everything is secure during the move. I always check the hitch, brakes, and lights before hitting the road. This way, we can avoid any mishaps and ensure a smooth journey.

Tips for Moving Your RV

If you're planning to move your RV, here are some tips to keep in mind:

  • Check Your Vehicle: Make sure your towing vehicle is in good condition. Check the brakes, tires, and lights.

  • Secure Your Load: Ensure everything inside your RV is secured. Loose items can shift during transport and cause damage.

  • Plan Your Route: Know the roads you'll be taking. Some routes may have restrictions for larger vehicles.

  • Stay Calm: Moving can be stressful. Take your time and don’t rush.

How to Prepare Your RV, 5th Wheel, or Boat for Towing

Preparing your vehicle before towing is key to a smooth experience. Here’s what I recommend doing:

  • Check Tire Pressure: Properly inflated tires reduce the risk of blowouts during transport.

  • Secure Loose Items: Inside and outside, make sure everything is fastened down to avoid damage.

  • Disconnect Batteries: This prevents electrical issues during the move.

  • Inspect Brakes and Lights: Ensure all systems are working properly for safety.

  • Empty Tanks: Drain water, propane, and waste tanks to reduce weight and prevent leaks.

  • Document Condition: Take photos of your vehicle before towing. This helps with insurance if any damage occurs.

Taking these steps helps protect your investment and makes the towing process easier for everyone involved.

  • Verify Insurance and Licensing: Make sure the company is fully insured and licensed.

  • Ask About Experience: How long have they been towing large vehicles?

  • Get a Clear Quote: Understand all costs upfront to avoid surprises.

  • Look for Specialized Equipment: Not every tow truck can handle big trailers or boats.
